One Visit Crowns with CEREC®
What is CEREC®?
Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic or CEREC® is a state-of-the-art system that uses advanced computer aided technology for crown restorations. Dr. Lindsay, Dr. Christian and Dr. Joe use the modern science, imaging and digital technology with CEREC® to offer single-visit dentistry.
A crown restores a tooth that has decay beyond the extent of a filling repair, recently had root canal therapy, is cracked or broken, or for esthetic appeal. Our dentists use CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology to restore your tooth with long-lasting strength and durability, all in just a single two hour visit!
What to expect at your CEREC® visit
Let's be honest, we love seeing you! But at Lakeshore Dental Care, we understand that your time is valuable. With CEREC®, there is no longer two or more visits between preparing the restoration and finally receiving the finished product. Here's what you can expect at your same day crown visit:
Preparation - The dentist will start by administering anesthetic. Then, the area is prepared by removing decay or weakened tooth tissue.
Scan - Rather than messy, horrible tasting impression material, CEREC® software uses a digital camera scan to take images of the prepped tooth and generates a three-dimensional image. Then, the software communicates the 3D image to our in-office milling unit.
Milling - The milling unit is a machine that removes material by using high grade instruments to construct your custom crown. A decay-resistant material block is individually picked based on your natural tooth color and is placed in the milling unit. Your crown is then created with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
Placement - Our dentists will check the construction of the restoration to make sure your crown is a perfect fit and exemplary color match with your other teeth. The restoration is bonded into place and blends seamlessly with your existing tooth.
How does this benefit you?
- Incredibly convenient by limiting disruption to your schedule and the stress of multiple dental visits, saving you time and money!
- No temporary solutions which means not having multiple visits and no waiting two weeks for your permanent crown.
- Metal free! The decay-resistant crown material mimics the natural beauty, function and strength of a natural tooth.
- CEREC® crowns have been proven to be durable and can last up to 15 years!
- CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology is known for accuracy and precision, which means better fit and comfort!
How do you take care of your CEREC® crown?
Congratulations! You've got a new CEREC® same day crown! To assure the longevity, we recommend that you continue your at-home oral hygiene routine of brushing, flossing and seeing your dentist regularly. Although CEREC® restorations are extremely strong, there is a possibility of breakage or cracking under unusual pressure. As always, we are here if you need us.
